Obituary for Bob J. Borer

Bob J. Borer, aged 71, from Norfolk, NE, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located in Petersburg, NE. The service will be led by Fr. John Norman and Deacon John Starman, followed by inurnment at the parish cemetery. Friends and family can visit one hour before the service begins.

Arrangements are being handled by Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Robert “Bob” Joel Borer was born on January 16, 1955, at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, NE, to Richard and Miriam (Heying) Borer. He was raised in the area between Albion and Petersburg, completing his education at St. Michael’s School in Albion through eighth grade before graduating from Albion Public Schools in 1973.

Bob worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver with various companies, finding joy in the freedom of the open road and the trucking lifestyle.

A faithful member of the Catholic Church, Bob enjoyed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers, playing pool, following the series Ice Road Truckers, and attending NASCAR races during his leisure time.

He is survived by his seven siblings: Rick Borer from Atkinson, NE; Dave (Judy) Borer from Lincoln, NE; Mary Lu (John) Larson from Petersburg, NE; Karry Borer from Albion, NE; Joni (David) Hathaway from Norfolk, NE; Terry (Teresa) Borer from Papillion, NE; Lynn (Kristy) Borer from Castlewood, SD, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jans Borer, and his nephew John Alan Larson.
