Patryk Prukop will participate in a race in Nepal’s capital, located at an altitude of 1,350 meters above sea level. His journey will take him to the base of Mount Everest. Through this endeavor, he aims to both commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence and demonstrate that truck drivers can also be active athletes.
Prukop is among several hundred participants in the “Polish Himalayas 2018” initiative, which includes three events: a 100-kilometer run in Kathmandu (where completion of the distance will be based on individual strength), a trek to the base of the world’s highest peak, and a climb to the summit itself.
The final event is restricted to seasoned climbers, but Prukop can participate in the first two events, which welcome a broader range of participants.
Challenging Stereotypes
Despite not being a professional mountaineer, Prukop is far from inexperienced in sports. The truck driver, who operates in England, engages in marathon running and maintains a healthy lifestyle.
This hasn’t always been the case; he previously struggled with being overweight but took it upon himself to change. His remarkable transformation is a testament to his efforts.
“I am very passionate about breaking the stereotype of an overweight and inactive professional driver,” asserts Patryk, who is part of a group advocating for the health of truckers through the Truckers Life Foundation.
If all goes as planned, Prukop is set to reach Mount Everest. We wish him the best of luck!
