Windsor Police Arrest Suspect in Rental Truck Theft
Windsor police have apprehended an individual in relation to the theft of a rental truck that occurred while equipment was being unloaded from it.
Incident Overview
Just before 11 p.m. on February 3, 2025, authorities received a report regarding a vehicle theft that took place in the 800 block of Janette Avenue.
Theft Details
Upon arrival, officers found that a suspect had entered the rental truck and driven off rapidly while the victim was in the process of unloading equipment from the back of the truck.
Recovery of Stolen Vehicle
The following day, the abandoned rental truck was located in the 2600 block of Langlois Court.
Investigation and Evidence
Thanks to the efforts of the Windsor Police Auto Theft Unit, a suspect was identified and a search warrant was executed at a garage located in the 600 block of South Pacific Avenue.
Returned Equipment
During the search, police recovered items valued at $7,500, including speakers, LED lights, and other music gear, which were subsequently returned to the victim.
Suspect Arrested
On February 18, officers found and arrested the suspect in the 2400 block of Dougall Avenue. The 40-year-old man faces charges including theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen goods exceeding $5,000, and dangerous driving.
