A Celebratory Sisterhood

The saying “sisterhood is powerful” might seem clichéd, yet it perfectly encapsulates the unity among women in the SheDrives community. This initiative, developed by NFI Industries in collaboration with Women In Trucking, is flourishing in its mission.

Honoring Women Drivers on Mother’s Day

This month, as we observe Mother’s Day, the SheDrives sisterhood pays tribute to the women who manage the dual responsibilities of motherhood and a career in trucking.

Shared Experiences of Motherhood and Trucking

Members like Jennifer N. and Sierra T. share a unique experience: both have navigated the challenges of being pregnant while working as truck drivers. They express gratitude for the camaraderie and encouragement available among fellow women truckers.

A Supportive Environment

Jennifer appreciates the interactions within SheDrives, stating, “Being able to talk with women doing exactly what I do — it’s amazing.” Inspired by another female trucker, she has been driving for over three years and finds the community to be an essential resource for advice and shared experiences, which empowered her to stay on the road throughout her pregnancy.

Encouragement and Guidance

Sierra cherishes the connections she has made through SheDrives, referring to it as a supportive sisterhood. Although she wasn’t part of the community during her pregnancy, she is eager to offer assistance and motivation to other women in similar situations. She recounts her own pregnancy experience, noting the support she received from her co-workers, particularly during the challenges of postpartum depression.

Advice for Future Trucking Aspirants

Both Jennifer and Sierra advocate for women considering a career in trucking. Sierra encourages them to embrace the opportunity, stating, “The support that’s out there now that we have so many more female drivers is insane.” Meanwhile, Jennifer hopes to see her family involved in the trucking business, as her daughter shows interest in following in her footsteps.
