NEW DELHI (India CSR): Apollo Tyres, a prominent tyre manufacturer, has launched its Mobile Medical Unit named ‘Apollo Tyres Healthcare Express’ to provide health check-ups for truck drivers and related communities. The unit was officially launched today by C Thomas Mathew, the Unit Head at Apollo Tyres’ Chennai Plant.

Healthcare Services Provided

This Mobile Medical Unit aims to deliver essential healthcare services to the trucking sector, while also increasing awareness about significant health concerns including HIV/AIDS, prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Vision Care, Tuberculosis, and chronic conditions such as Diabetes and Hypertension.

Team of Professionals

The Healthcare Express will be staffed by a skilled team consisting of a Medical Officer (MBBS), a Pharmacist, an Optometrist, Outreach Workers, and a Project Coordinator. This team will provide a broad spectrum of services encompassing preventive measures, awareness programs, general medical care, and targeted health screenings.

Service Coverage Area

The Mobile Medical Unit is set to operate within major transport hubs located within a 50-km radius, which includes areas like Madhavaram, Manjambakkam, and Poonamallee, thus serving over 10,000 individuals in the trucking community.

Affordable Access to Services

Drivers and affiliated members of the trucking community can avail themselves of these crucial services offered by the Healthcare Express for a nominal consultation fee of Rs 10 per visit.

Impact of Healthcare Programme

Since launching its healthcare initiatives for the trucking community in 2000, the Apollo Tyres Foundation has impacted over 12 million individuals. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization provided support to more than one million people for awareness initiatives, conducted COVID-19 testing for over 10,000 individuals, and facilitated vaccinations for over 150,000 in partnership with local authorities.
