Investigation Uncovers Multi-County Crime Ring in Butts County

JENKINSBURG, Ga. – Authorities in Butts County have successfully dismantled a crime syndicate accused of stealing and moving heavy construction equipment across the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Investigation Overview

The inquiry began after reports of heavy equipment theft at a construction site in Jenkinsburg. Investigators analyzed numerous hours of surveillance footage, identifying a suspect vehicle—a rental truck from Home Depot. Collaborating with Home Depot’s security team, officers traced the truck back to its renter, identifying several individuals likely involved in the crimes.

Evidence Collection

Additional evidence connected the rental truck to thefts at multiple locations, including the construction site for a new Publix on Highway 42 in Locust Grove.

Arrests Made

Following the execution of a search warrant in Newton County, Eric Cole was arrested, and the rental truck along with a trailer utilized in the thefts was recovered. A separate search warrant in Cobb County led to the discovery of a stolen tractor from Butts County and more evidence linking to the crime ring.

Authorities’ Statements

The sheriff’s office released a statement emphasizing their dedication: “This investigation demonstrates the tireless efforts of our investigators and our commitment to safeguarding property and holding organized criminals accountable. Regardless of the distance or complexity of their operations, we will pursue the evidence and seek justice for the victims.”

Identified Suspects

Three suspects have been identified: Reginald Bramber and Eric Cole are currently in custody, while Kory Roland remains at large. All three face charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, alongside charges of theft by taking, criminal attempt to commit theft, and conspiracy to commit theft.

Call for Information

Anyone with any knowledge of Kory Roland’s location is urged to reach out to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.
