Merritt Enhances Its Reach with Magnum Trailer & Equipment Acquisition

US-based Merritt, a top manufacturer of livestock and gooseneck trailers with nearly 75 years of industry experience, has unveiled a strategic initiative aimed at bolstering its position and broadening its capabilities in the aluminium truck accessories sector. The Merritt family of companies, which includes Merritt Aluminum Products and Merritt Trailers, has announced the acquisition of Magnum Trailer & Equipment, a well-respected company based in British Columbia.

This acquisition expands Merritt’s workforce to more than 520 employees across North America and enhances operations with five locations totaling over 400,000 square feet dedicated to production and service. The collaboration of the two teams will allow for a comprehensive range of aluminium solutions catering to the heavy-duty trucking sector. Magnum’s expertise in truck accessories, trailer manufacturing, and service adds valuable innovation and strength to Merritt’s growing offerings.

Andrew Taylor, CEO of Magnum Trailer & Equipment, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Merritt’s acquisition of Magnum signifies an exciting new chapter for us. Our values align, and our product lines complement nicely. We eagerly anticipate jointly pursuing strategic growth.”

Magnum’s Truck Accessories division, celebrated for its durable aluminium moose guards and modular front-end protection systems designed for Class 8 trucks, will be seamlessly integrated with Merritt Aluminum Products.

Taylor Merritt shared a personal sentiment about this acquisition: “This move is as much personal as it is strategic. Our family business began nearly 75 years ago in the Pacific Northwest. We’ve proudly served the PNW and Western Canada, so welcoming Magnum Trailer & Equipment from beautiful British Columbia feels like returning home.”

Benefits of the Acquisition for Merritt

  • The combined product line enhances coverage and versatility for both heavy-duty and light-duty truck customers, ranging from tough front-end protection to intelligently designed storage solutions.
  • Customers will experience improved product availability and faster, more agile service owing to a broader geographic reach.
  • Integration of engineering teams and resources will expedite innovative product development and reduce time-to-market.
  • The acquisition opens up new possibilities for shared technologies, optimized supply chains, and groundbreaking design innovations across all divisions.

According to Taylor Merritt, CEO of Merritt Companies, “This acquisition strengthens our vision to provide the best aluminium products by merging the strengths of both companies. Our focus is on creating additional value for customers, fostering innovation, and upholding the shared values that have driven our success.”
