Kiwi Truck Driver Goes Viral Again for Heroic Robbery Intervention
A New Zealand truck driver, known for delivering one of the most memorable interviews after thwarting a robbery, is gaining attention once more. His previous interview has garnered significant acclaim for its inspiring content.
In February 2020, T was featured on the Australian morning program ‘9 Today’ after intervening during a robbery at a Coles store, even offering the would-be thief some constructive advice.
The original Facebook video has accumulated over 2 million views and 32,000 likes. Recently, a TikTok clip of the interview went viral, amassing over 400,000 likes and 3.8 million views, making T’s story even more widely shared than before.
“Honestly, it was just another ordinary day, driving over to Coles to drop off some magazines,” T recalled at the beginning of the interview.
After being alerted to the robbery, which he initially mistook for a friendly wave, T sprang into action. “I thought, ‘Oh wait, I’ll go see what’s happening,'” he said, and approached the store.
Once inside, T confronted the thieves directly. “One ran past me, but I made sure the other one didn’t escape,” he recalled, stating confidently, “You’re not going anywhere.”
After tackling the robber to the ground, T provided him with life advice, reflecting on his own experiences as a father of a son the same age. He urged the young man, “‘Why are you hanging out with those dropkicks? They’re not good for you, you have your whole life ahead of you, and you’re just fifteen, come on mate.'”
