On The Road visited the Kenworth booth during Work Truck Week, where Rachel Woods, the Medium-Duty Marketing Manager, discussed new developments in Kenworth’s medium-duty lineup, including the introduction of a gasoline-powered truck.
Gasoline-Powered Truck: The Cummins B6.7 Octane
The strikingly bright yellow display truck caught attention with its innovative Cummins B6.7 Octane engine. According to Woods, “what sets this truck apart is its gasoline engine rather than diesel.”
The positioning of the truck’s fuel tank, located between the frame rails and behind the rear axle, is designed with a focus on safety and fuel capacity. This option is slated for release in early 2026 and will be available for Class 5, 6, and 7 Kenworth medium-duty trucks.
Woods highlighted the enhanced adaptability for body builders, stating, “The fuel neck can be relocated if body builders need to modify or adjust it.”
T880S Performance Hood: Engineered for Power
Kenworth also introduced the new T880S performance hood, designed to accommodate high-horsepower engines in set-forward front axle configurations. Woods explained, “The performance hood is larger, providing the ability to specify a high horsepower engine.” This expanded design allows for a bigger cooling module, which enhances reliability for demanding tasks.
Upgraded LED Headlamps and Visibility Features
All Kenworth medium-duty trucks utilizing the 2.1-meter cab platform are now equipped with heated LED headlamps. “What’s unique about our design, which we believe gives it a sharp appearance, is the black bezel that accentuates the headlamp, giving it a crisp and bright look,” noted Woods.
Additionally, for the T880 model, Kenworth displayed a digital mirror system aimed at providing clear visibility from various angles—further enhancing safety and driver assurance.
