Action-Packed Night at Grandview Speedway

Saturday night at Grandview Speedway was filled with thrilling racing from the qualifying heats to the feature races!

Jon Kellner from Lansdale, Pa. claimed victory in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature, marking his seventeenth career win in this division. Notably, Kellner’s last Modified win at Grandview was back on August 17, 2013, prior to his retirement announcement. After being invited to return by car owner MiKe Casey last year, Kellner made a triumphant return to the winner’s circle on Saturday.

Colin Cox, a newcomer racing regularly at Grandview Speedway, showcased his skills by racing from a seventeenth starting position to win the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature, securing his second win of the year and reinforcing his lead in the points standings.

Both winners received monetary bonuses (Modified $300, Sportsman $200) courtesy of T.P. Trailers and Truck Equipment, the sponsors of the two divisions and the event itself, part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series.

The Modifieds kicked off the night with three competitive qualifying heats won by Eric Kormann, Jon Kellner, and Ron Haring Jr., setting the stage for an exhilarating feature race that followed. Haring Jr. took an early lead, while Kellner battled with other competitors behind him. Despite building a significant lead by lap ten, Haring Jr.’s advantage was cut short due to a late-race incident on lap 21, bringing out the red flag.

On the restart, Kellner took the lead from Haring Jr., with Jeff Strunk and Jared Umbenhauer closely following. The final nine laps were intense, with Kellner successfully defending his lead against Strunk’s challenges to claim the win. The race concluded with Strunk and Umbenhauer finishing second and third, respectively.

The 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature was equally thrilling, with Chase Gular grabbing the lead early on. However, Colin Cox quickly advanced from his seventeenth starting spot, eventually taking the lead by lap seven. Cox built a commanding lead but faced challenges from Brett Gilmore and others. In the end, Cox secured his second career Grandview NASCAR feature win.

Upcoming Events

Grandview Speedway has more NASCAR action lined up for next week, highlighted by the 55th annual Firecracker 40-lap Championship. The event on Saturday, July 12, will feature qualifying events leading to the Modified and Sportsman features, with substantial prize payouts for the winners.
