End of a Long Partnership

Averitt’s three-decade collaboration with Mercedes-Benz will result in the loss of 200 trucking jobs in Alabama as of New Year’s Eve.

Contract Conclusion

The agreement between Averitt and Mercedes-Benz in Vance, Alabama, is set to conclude on December 31st. This will lead to the reduction of nearly 200 positions, including drivers, administrative staff, and leadership roles. Averitt has been associated with Mercedes-Benz in the region since 1996.

Focus on Other Services

Averitt’s spokesperson clarified that these changes will only impact their relationship with Mercedes-Benz.

“Averitt will maintain a comprehensive range of transportation and logistics services in Tuscaloosa, as we have for nearly 50 years. Our objective is to expand our business in West Alabama while providing local shippers with innovative solutions,” the spokesperson explained to AL News.

Commitment to Excellence

Averitt emphasized in a statement that this partnership has been fundamental to its dedication to high-quality logistics and supply chain services.

Supporting Affected Employees

With the conclusion of the dedicated contract, Averitt is focused on facilitating a smooth transition for impacted employees. The company is looking for new roles within its network to retain as many team members as possible and is providing financial transition support for those who secure positions within the company.

Looking Ahead

“Although this chapter is closing, we are committed to assisting our team during this transition and helping them find new opportunities within our organization,” stated Dan Singer, Averitt’s vice president of dedicated operations.
