Celebrating Long-Term Employees
CHEROKEE, Iowa — Hy-Vee has recently brought back a beloved tradition that honors its longest-serving employees with larger-than-life portraits showcased on semi-trailers.
Barry Carlson Honored
Among those celebrated is Barry Carlson, a dedicated truck driver for Hy-Vee.
A Heartwarming Homecoming
Carlson not only is featured on one of the trailers but also had the privilege of driving it to his local store in Cherokee, Iowa. Upon his arrival, he was greeted warmly by colleagues, family, friends, and members of the Hy-Vee corporate team. To mark this special occasion, Carlson received a miniature replica of the truck adorned with his image.

Rolling Tributes Across the Midwest
A total of 18 trucks displaying the faces of Barry and other employees with over 40 years of service will be hitting the road. These mobile tributes will deliver groceries to Hy-Vee stores across nine Midwestern states, spreading their “helpful smiles” with every mile traveled.
