If you missed the premiere episodes of the “American Trucker” series last Thursday on the Speed Channel, they will be rebroadcast tonight at 8 PM and 11 PM ET, with a morning slot at 8 AM tomorrow. New episodes will continue on Thursday, featuring “Bandit and the Snowman” and “Robb and the Bear,” the latter likely to showcase sneak-peek footage of Paul Sagehorn’s B.J. and the Bear rig, which I’ve discussed extensively here. Check out a sneak-peek clip here.
This month in Truckers News, I published my interview with the “American Trucker” host Robb Mariani, as part of my “Exit Only” series. You can read the full interview over on the Truckers News website.
Here are some highlights from our conversation:
- “I was passionate about [trucking] from the time I could flip through my Grandpa Emil’s Overdrive magazine. I told my parents that I wanted to be a truck driver.”
- “In 2007, I joined HGTV with my design portfolio for the second season of Design Star. They were surprised that I was openly straight, worked in interior design, and had a cabover Ford.”
- “I can’t host the show without integrity — I’m not an actor, and I’m always emphasizing that truckers are truly the backbone of America; trucks are what keep our nation moving. That theme is central to everything I do.”
