Partnership to Enhance Healthcare for Truck Drivers
The National Health Authority (NHA) has teamed up with the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deliver healthcare services to 10 million truck drivers under the Ayushman Bharat (AB)-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
Identifying Eligible Truck Drivers
Both the NHA and AITWA will collaborate to identify truck drivers and staff from transportation companies who qualify for the scheme. The verification process for these drivers will be conducted using the NHA’s Beneficiary Identification System, facilitated by the Common Service Centres (CSCs) overseen by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Access to Healthcare Services
This partnership aims to provide thousands of eligible families with access to inpatient care for serious health issues at a vast network of 19,002 government and private hospitals registered with PM-JAY. Truck drivers can receive their AB PM-JAY e-cards at the nearest AITWA Highway Hero Centres.
Initial Pilot Project
In the initial phase, a pilot project will be launched at select locations associated with AITWA and AB PM-JAY. Following the pilot, the initiative will be expanded to additional towns across India.
Benefits for Eligible Participants
Truck drivers and employees from various transport companies will gain access to the benefits once they obtain their PM-JAY cards. This initiative is set to improve healthcare access for those in the trucking industry significantly.
Collaboration for Beneficiary Identification
Officials from the NHA will closely collaborate with AITWA teams and CSCs to effectively identify eligible beneficiaries and facilitate the registration process.
Conclusion
This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in ensuring that truck drivers receive essential healthcare services, highlighting the commitment to the wellbeing of those who are vital to India’s transportation ecosystem.
