Grandview Speedway Hosts Test and Tune Session Ahead of Season Opener

Grandview Speedway held an open test and tune practice on Saturday afternoon, paving the way for Opening Night set for Saturday, April 4.

On a breezy and chilly afternoon, a strong turnout of race teams filled the Grandview Speedway pit area, with 73 race cars participating in the traditional open practice session that’s free to the public. This event allowed drivers to prepare their cars for the upcoming racing season.

Competitors from various divisions took part, with the two primary weekly categories leading the pack: 27 T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment NASCAR Modifieds and 27 T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman. Additionally, cars from the Outlaw Racing Series Enduro, Keystone Sport Compact Series Four Cylinders, Vintage cars, and a non-wing Sprint car took to the track during the three and a half-hour practice.

Notable quick laps in the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Modifieds were recorded by Eric Kormann from Carneys Point, N.J. with a time of 14.221 seconds, followed by Rick Laubach from Quakertown, Pa. at 15.133 seconds, Jeff Strunk from Boyertown, Pa. at 15.208 seconds, and Chris Esposito from Telford, Pa. at 15.251 seconds.

In the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Sportsman division, last year’s Champion Colin Cox from Perkasie, Pa. clocked a lap of 15.066 seconds, with Decker Swinehart from Fleetwood, Pa. close behind at 15.369 seconds and Matthew Laubach from Hellertown, Pa. at 15.378 seconds.

Other quick laps included Richie Hitzler from Lebanon, Pa. in the Xcel Modifieds with a time of 15.875 seconds, Ryan Moyer in the Keystone Sport Compact Series with a lap of 18.493 seconds, and Alexander McIlroy in a Wingless Sprint car at 17.287 seconds.

With practice completed, focus shifts to the 2026 season-opening VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker, which is open to both Big and Small Block Modified competitors. In honor of the track’s long-time owner Bruce Rogers, the feature race will be a 50-lap event with a prize of $7,500 for the winner and $1,000 just for starting the race!

Grandview Speedway management reminds all participants that the Opening Night program will be NASCAR sanctioned and marks the first points race of the season for both the T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Modifieds and Sportsman divisions toward the track and NASCAR Local Racing Series Powered by O’Reilly Auto Parts Championships.
