Investigation Underway for Fatal I-75 Crash
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are in the process of identifying the driver of a semitractor-trailer who tragically lost his life in a crash on October 19.
Authorities have reported that the individual sustained severe burns during the incident. Law enforcement is collaborating with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the victim’s identity.
Officials are also attempting to contact the man’s possible employer for further details. The name of the company is being withheld until the victim’s identity is confirmed and his family has been informed.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on October 19 along southbound Interstate 75, near mile marker 370, just two miles north of the County Road 318/Orange Lake interchange.
As per the FHP, the semitrailer was traveling south in the right lane when it inexplicably veered off the interstate to the right shoulder and collided with the guardrail.
The vehicle continued south, moving onto the grassy shoulder where it struck several trees. As a result, the truck jackknifed, causing part of the cab to detach from the trailer.
Officials noted that a portion of the trailer was burned, while the cab was completely engulfed in flames. The driver was confirmed to be the sole occupant.
