FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Friends are remembering a Fargo man who passed away on Tuesday due to a workplace incident at Bert’s Truck Equipment, where a truck axle fell on him.

Stacy Martin, 51, was engaged in repairs on a truck’s lift axle when a temporary weld failed, resulting in the axle crashing down on his chest and abdomen, according to investigators. He was alert when emergency responders arrived but lost consciousness en route to Sanford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Friends Celebrate His ‘Larger-Than-Life Personality’

Affectionately known as “Deuce,” Martin was a member of the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club and regularly spent time at Woody’s Bar, a place where his friends now grapple with his unexpected passing.

“I received the news yesterday while driving home. It has been a really tough day for all of us,” shared Knuckles, a fellow club member.

“Stacy was like a brother to me; we’ve been in the same club since the beginning,” Knuckles reflected.

Friends highlighted that Martin had recently triumphed over liver cancer and characterized him as someone who cherished every moment.

“He had an incredible ability to light up a room, breaking down barriers and creating the seemingly impossible. His heart was the biggest in the world, and he would go above and beyond for anyone in his circle,” Knuckles said. “I have seen him do so many hilarious things. He was an exceptional person and the funniest guy I knew,” added Steven Tuttle.

The impact of his loss is deeply felt among those who cared for him.

“I’ve been crying on and off all day,” Tuttle expressed, reflecting the sorrow shared by many.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
