Local Propane Company Affected by Major Theft
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A family-run propane business is facing significant challenges after a thief made off with $70,000 worth of essential equipment, complicating the company’s efforts to stay operational.
Details of the Incident
On July 31, John Mohn, the yard manager for Phoenix Propane, reported that a thief stole one of their two work trucks and additional equipment from the yard located near 40th Street and University Drive.
Thief Caught on Camera
The theft was recorded by a dashcam inside the truck. The footage reveals the suspect speeding away in the vehicle and then forcibly removing the camera upon noticing it. Mohn expressed his disbelief, saying, “I was astonished. I was like, wow. I can’t believe it.”
Truck’s Last Known Location
The stolen truck was last tracked heading toward Interstate 10 near 32nd Street before the dashcam footage stopped.
Impact on the Business
Mohn emphasized that this loss poses a critical challenge for a small business like Phoenix Propane, stating, “That’s a big hit for us to take, for the company. It’s a huge hit.” He even made an appeal, saying, “Bring our truck and our welder back, and we’ll try to be easy on you. How’s that?”
Investigation Status
The company has filed a police report, but no suspects have been identified so far, and the vehicle remains missing.
