Florida Trucking Association Launches New Campaign
The trucking industry encompasses more than just driving, and the Florida Trucking Association (FTA) is initiating a new campaign aimed at attracting more individuals to this field.
“Jobs Beyond the Wheel” Campaign
The “Jobs Beyond the Wheel” initiative is designed to broaden access to a diverse workforce within Florida’s trucking sector, which includes numerous roles beyond operating large trucks. The FTA has recognized a “critical shortage of skilled workers” and is eager to inspire more professionals to consider careers in trucking.
Highlights from Industry Leaders
“Every truck on Florida’s roadways symbolizes a team of skilled professionals who make operations possible,” stated Alix Miller, President and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association. “The trucking sector offers dynamic, high-paying job opportunities which we aim to promote. Our campaign features personal stories from employees detailing the skills and career paths they’ve pursued. We want to illuminate how Floridians can leverage their talents in this vital industry where innovation meets opportunity.”
Comprehensive Overview of the Trucking Sector
FTA representatives emphasize that every facet of the trucking industry underpins nearly all aspects of commerce in Florida. The new initiative includes an interactive website that illustrates the complexities of the trucking sector and highlights various career opportunities available in the industry.
Website Features and Resources
This website serves as more than a promotional platform; it offers career insights, training resources, job postings, and connects job seekers with companies hiring for trucking-related positions throughout the state. Many available roles extend far beyond driving.
Diverse Job Opportunities
Open positions include diesel technicians responsible for truck maintenance and repair, as well as manufacturing specialists needed for producing parts. Additionally, there is a demand for brokers and customer operations managers to handle client relations and logistics. Roles in human resources, transportation law, safety, and public relations are also sought to promote the industry’s growth.
A Call to All Job Seekers
“’Jobs Beyond the Wheel’ highlights various roles and individuals within the trucking sector — appealing to job seekers and college students exploring post-graduation options,” noted Elizabeth Emmanuel, Vice President of Public Affairs at FTA and creative director of the project. “Regardless of one’s life stage or educational background, we want to encourage people to view the transportation sector as a compelling career path.”
The campaign is partially funded by FloridaCommerce, the state’s business development agency.
