New Fire Truck for Zachary Fire Department
The Zachary Fire Department has recently acquired a new fire truck featuring a range of lifesaving equipment.
During a City Council meeting on February 25, Fire Chief Danny Kimble presented details about this latest addition. The truck was displayed outside City Hall, allowing council members and the public to view it upon arrival.
Details of the Acquisition
“It’s a 2024 model,” Kimble noted. “It took approximately two and a half years for it to be delivered. The overall cost of the truck and its equipment is around $750,000, funded entirely by ARPA money.”
Funding Background
ARPA stands for the American Rescue Plan Act, an economic stimulus initiative approved by Congress in 2021 to aid the nation’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Support from Local Leaders
Kimble acknowledged the vital contributions of East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council members Brandon Noel and Aaron Moak in securing funding for the truck for Fire Protection District No. 1, which then donated the vehicle to Zachary.

He also expressed gratitude to Thomas Scott, the board president of the district, for his efforts in acquiring the fire truck.
Specifications of the Fire Truck
According to a post on the Zachary Fire Department’s Facebook page, the new truck, produced by Ferrara Fire Apparatus, is designated as Engine 813 within the department’s fleet. It boasts a pumping capacity of 1,500 gallons per minute and features a 1,000-gallon water tank, along with firefighting hoses and tools, plus a hydraulic tool for vehicle extrications.
