Trucking Groups Call for Delay of EPA’s NOx Regulation
The American Trucking Associations, National Tank Truck Carriers, Truckload Carriers Association, along with 49 state trucking associations, have sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency advocating for a delay in the implementation of the heavy-duty NOx rule until 2031.
This rule, which is set to roll out with the 2027 model year, aims to significantly lower NOx emissions—over 80% from existing standards—and cut particulate matter limits by 50%. Additionally, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) would have to extend warranties from 100,000 to 450,000 miles and useful life limits from 435,000 to 650,000 miles.
The organizations expressed concerns over increased compliance costs amid existing economic pressures on the trucking industry. They argued that implementing the 2027 rule could exacerbate operational challenges during a time of economic instability.
Shell Rotella Unveils Reward Program
Shell Rotella launched its 2025 National Promotion, offering purchasers the chance to earn Mastercard Virtual Reward Cards worth up to $40 when they buy T4, T5, or T6 heavy-duty diesel engine oil from participating retailers by November 30.
The value of the reward cards depends on the specific oil purchased and the quantity. Customers can enter their purchase online to claim their reward after verification.
Load One Earns Wreaths Across America Award
Wreaths Across America honored Load One Transportation & Logistics with the James Prout Spirit of Giving Award this month for their commitment to assist the organization. Load One has played a crucial role in transporting wreaths since 2010 as part of WAA’s Honor Fleet.
This award memorializes James Prout, founder of Blue Bird Ranch Trucking, who was the pioneer volunteer for the wreaths program at Arlington National Cemetery. The honor is conferred semi-annually to recognize significant contributions to charitable causes within the logistics community.
Driver’s Quick Actions Save Fellow Trucker
David Cyr, a truck driver for ABF Freight from Glen St. Mary, Florida, has been named a Highway Angel by the Truckload Carriers Association for his decisive actions that helped rescue a fellow driver after a rollover accident in Jacksonville.
On July 7, Cyr witnessed a tractor-trailer flip and immediately rushed to the scene with another driver. He assessed the situation, checked for hazards, and helped free the trapped driver, who, though shaken, appeared unharmed.
Cyr emphasized the importance of helping others, stating, “You gotta help people out. It’s the human thing to do.” With 30 years in trucking, he exemplifies the spirit of community and support in the industry.
