FRA Member Spotlight
by Jeff Jenkins | FRA Appalachian Region Consultant
The Forest Resources Association (FRA) serves the wood supply chain, with its members contributing to its success. Representing loggers, truckers, mills, landowners, and allied businesses, FRA thrives on the diversity and expertise of its members. This week, I’m excited to spotlight Glockner Commercial Services, an Associate member that exemplifies these qualities.
Based in southern Ohio, Glockner Commercial Services is part of the family-owned Glockner Enterprises, which has significantly expanded its insurance offerings, particularly for the forest products sector. They provide tailored insurance services to logging, trucking, and hardwood sawmill operations across six states in Appalachia. This focus showcases their deep understanding of the industry and commitment to addressing the specific needs of forestry professionals.
A key figure at Glockner is Ralph Cartee, Vice President of Insurance, who has shown a strong commitment to ensuring that loggers and truckers have access to affordable, high-quality insurance. During tough times for the industry, Ralph has been instrumental in helping Ohio’s loggers secure the necessary coverage, enhancing Glockner’s credibility within the forest products community.
Two years ago, Glockner further strengthened its team by hiring Ryan Redoutey, a local logger with over 25 years of experience. Ryan brings not only industry knowledge but also leadership roles in various organizations like the Ohio Forestry Association, further solidifying Glockner’s commitment to the forestry community.
Currently the General Manager, Ryan oversees commercial finance, insurance, and regulatory compliance. He collaborates with businesses to assess their risk profiles and devise plans suited to their needs. Despite enjoying his managerial role, Ryan misses the camaraderie of working in the woods alongside fellow loggers.
Familiar with FRA prior to his transition, Ryan appreciates the association’s dedication to supporting policies that benefit the forest industry. He continues to find value in FRA’s regional meetings, which facilitate networking and knowledge sharing among industry professionals. Glockner Commercial Services showcases the type of Associate member that enriches FRA and the broader forest products sector, underscoring their commitment and expertise in serving forestry professionals.
