Daimler India Opens New Healthcare Clinic in Tamil Nadu
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has launched a specialized physiotherapy and primary healthcare clinic in Sangagiri, Tamil Nadu, a significant trucking hub in the region. This initiative, a collaboration with Smile Foundation, aims to benefit approximately 13,500 individuals, with over 70% of the expected beneficiaries being members of the trucking community.
Addressing Health Challenges of Truck Drivers
Truck drivers often work long hours with demanding schedules and limited access to medical care, leading to prevalent issues such as musculoskeletal problems, fatigue, and lifestyle-related diseases. The clinic’s objective is to mitigate these challenges by promoting early detection and preventive healthcare practices.
Comprehensive Healthcare Services Offered
The clinic will provide a wide array of services, including physiotherapy, outpatient consultations, eye examinations, preventive assessments, and referral assistance for more extensive treatment. By integrating immediate care with ongoing wellness solutions, the initiative aspires to enhance the quality of life and lower healthcare expenses for drivers and their families.
Statements from Company Leaders
During the inauguration, Mr. Michael Moebius, President & Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer of DICV, expressed that the organization sees drivers as central to the nation’s mobility framework, emphasizing that their health is crucial for road safety. Mr. Santanu Mishra, Co-founder of Smile Foundation, highlighted the initiative’s goal of providing quality healthcare access to an underserved community and promoting preventive health strategies.
Operating Hours and Staffing
The clinic will function six days a week and will be staffed by qualified healthcare professionals. It will also utilize a digital patient management system to ensure effective service delivery and seamless continuity of care.
