John Deere Launches Next-Generation Articulated Dump Trucks
John Deere has introduced its latest series of articulated dump trucks, featuring the new 260 P-Tier, 310 P-Tier, 410 P-Tier, and 460 P-Tier models.
New Engine and Advanced Features
The 410 P-Tier and 460 P-Tier models replace their previous 13.5-liter PowerTech 6135 engine with the updated 13.6-liter JD14 engine. All models now include an Advanced Vision System that enhances awareness on the job site. The launch occurred at the Deere’s 2025 Construction Field Days event in Sacaton, Arizona.
Improvements in Design and Accessibility
Kasey Kelly, the product manager for articulated dump trucks at Deere, notes that the new engine boosts reliability and creates more space in the engine compartment for easier maintenance. A feature on the front of the truck lets operators lower it several inches, facilitating access to engine components.
Focus on Serviceability
“We are maintaining ground-level serviceability with our new models. All daily checks and inspections can be performed from the ground,” Kelly emphasizes. “Our goal is to design a truck that is user-friendly for both operators and mechanics, ensuring simplicity in maintenance to maximize uptime.”
Engine Specifications and Efficiency
The JD14 engine incorporates Hydraulic Lash Adjusters and integrates oil and coolant paths, which Deere claims leads to a 20% reduction in repair time by eliminating valve lash maintenance and simplifying service procedures.
Fuel Efficiency and Durability Enhancements
With the introduction of a High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel system, the JD14 engine also provides better fuel economy and efficiency compared to its predecessor. Additionally, built-in harnesses enhance overall design durability, while improved access to the battery simplifies maintenance.
Innovative Monitoring System
In the new models, three 8-inch display monitors function as “virtual mirrors” within the cab, enhancing operator visibility and control.
