Daimler Truck Financial Services to Establish Headquarters in Charlotte
Daimler Truck Financial Services, which offers financing, leasing, and insurance for Daimler Truck North America’s commercial vehicles, is set to invest $7.8 million in establishing its headquarters in Charlotte. This decision is expected to create 276 new jobs in the area.
The average salary for these new roles will be approximately $133,940, surpassing the average salary of $86,830 in Mecklenburg County, according to state reports.
Daimler Trucks manufactures Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks, and Thomas Built Buses. For over half a century, Daimler Truck Financial Services has provided financial solutions to various clients, including owner-operators, fleet managers, and governmental entities. This new headquarters in Charlotte will bring together offices from Michigan and Texas into a consolidated 60,000-square-foot facility for its administrative, human resources, and financial operations.
Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services, expressed enthusiasm about the new location, stating, “We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area — this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth.”
Before taking his current role, Bangston was CEO of Thomas Built Buses in High Point from June 2021 to September 2024. His career with Daimler Truck North America began in 2001.
The company has been awarded a $4.1 million Job Development Investment Grant from the state, which will be disbursed over 12 years. The funding will be contingent on the company meeting its investment and job creation targets.
In addition to the Charlotte site, Daimler previously considered a location in York County, South Carolina. Daimler’s affiliated companies, which include Daimler Trucks North America, Thomas Built Buses, and SelecTrucks of America, operate a total of five facilities across North Carolina, employing nearly 7,000 individuals, as reported by the United Auto Workers union.
