Daimler Truck Financial Services USA LLC (DTFS) and GEICO have launched Connected Insurance, a new data-driven insurance program designed to help Freightliner and Western Star owner-operators and small fleets save on premiums while promoting safer driving.

FORT WORTH, Texas & WASHINGTON, October 24, 2025 — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Daimler Truck Financial Services USA LLC (DTFS) and GEICO, one of the most prominent insurers in the U.S., unveiled Connected Insurance today, a data-focused insurance program aimed at assisting Freightliner and Western Star owner-operators and small fleets in reducing their premiums while enhancing road safety. This initiative is managed through the Daimler Truck Insurance Agency LLC, a subsidiary of DTFS.

Connected Insurance improves GEICO’s existing DriveEasy Pro program by utilizing data to incentivize safe driving practices. Owners of Freightliner and Western Star vehicles can voluntarily provide real-time telematics data from Detroit Connect and enjoy benefits without needing to install extra hardware. This will enhance underwriting accuracy and simplify the claims process, allowing eligible customers to save as much as 10% on their commercial vehicle insurance premiums.

Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services North America, stated, “Our goal is to provide comprehensive and innovative financial solutions tailored to our clients’ unique needs. This collaboration with GEICO offers a smart, data-driven insurance choice that helps reduce one of our customers’ most significant expenses.”

Chris Sions, head of partnerships at GEICO, remarked, “The real-time data from Daimler Truck’s telematics system allows us to evaluate risk more effectively, reward safe driving, and provide substantial savings. Our partnership with Daimler Truck Financial Services is essential for broadening commercial trucking insurance nationwide.”

The timing of this launch is particularly significant for the trucking industry, as noted by the American Transportation Research Institute, which ranks insurance costs as the fourth-most pressing issue for carriers, especially small businesses. Connected Insurance tackles this issue head-on by offering better quality coverage that is more affordable, thereby supporting the long-term success of independent drivers and small fleets.

GEICO’s expansion into the commercial trucking sector provides tailored options specifically for Freightliner and Western Star clients. Developed with insights from owner-operators and industry experts, the program merges telematics data with advanced analytics to deliver competitive rates backed by Berkshire Hathaway. Drawing on nearly 90 years of auto insurance expertise, GEICO enhances its service delivery for commercial vehicles through this program.
