MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 3.5 million truck drivers in the U.S. serve as the backbone of the country, and their commitment has now been commemorated in a new anthem titled “Highway Dreaming,” available on digital music platforms.
“This track is not just a song; it’s a dedication to the diligent individuals who support their families, communities, and the nation daily,” stated Josh Vaughn, director of advocacy and marketing for the Alabama Trucking Association (ATA). “The entire creation, including the song and video, was crafted, performed, and recorded by local Alabama artists.”
Heroes of the Highway
Composed and produced by a collective of Alabama musicians known as the Heroes of the Highway, the track features Sweet Tea Trio, a harmony-driven country group from Alabama. It stands as a sincere tribute to the champions who keep the wheels of the world in motion.
A Chance Encounter
What started as a serendipitous meeting at the ATA’s annual convention last May has transformed into a comprehensive musical endeavor. Sweet Tea Trio, consisting of Kate Falcon, Taylor Morrison, and Savannah Sawyer, impressed the audience with a moving a cappella rendition of the national anthem at the event. Inspired by their performance, Vaughn suggested a collaboration to honor truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
Highway Dreaming
With contributions from Birmingham songwriter Will Stewart and a team of talented Alabama musicians, “Highway Dreaming” was recorded at the renowned Cypress Moon Studios in Sheffield, Ala. The song captures the pride, resilience, and sense of purpose that professional drivers embody, resonating with lyrics like “turning miles right into money.”
A Visual Tribute
The music video, directed by Vaughn, showcases the Sweet Tea Trio in the studio along with a real trucking family, emphasizing the balance of life on the road and precious moments spent at home. Featuring Blair Logistics driver Jeremy Johnson and his family, alongside ATA President Mark Colson’s daughter, Liv, the video adds an authentic narrative to the song.
Celebrating Truck Drivers
Sweet Tea Trio, hailing from Alabama, has performed with legendary acts such as Bon Jovi, Alabama, and Kid Rock, and their harmonious vocals are highlighted in “Highway Dreaming.”
