ATW Expands Truck Equipment Division with Dakota Bodies Acquisition

ATW, a provider of trailers, truck equipment, and associated parts in North America, has acquired Dakota Bodies, a manufacturer of custom truck bodies. This acquisition enhances ATW’s Truck Equipment business unit, boosting its rapidly expanding flatbed and service body manufacturing capabilities.

Longstanding Partnership

Steve Courreges, President of ATW Truck Equipment, noted, “For years, ATW has collaborated with Dakota Bodies on custom service and utility bodies.” He added, “By incorporating them into the ATW portfolio, we can more effectively merge their expertise and technology with ATW’s scalability and commercial know-how.”

Dakota Bodies’ Expertise

Since its establishment in 1997, Dakota Bodies has specialized in designing and manufacturing utility and service truck bodies. The company has committed to investing in cutting-edge technologies and techniques to enhance services for its customers and workforce. Currently, Dakota Bodies operates from modern facilities located in Watertown, S.D., and Liberty, Mo., while holding a strong reputation for quality products and quick turnaround times.

Enhanced Resources and Opportunities

Jeff Orthaus, CEO of Dakota Bodies, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that “joining forces with ATW provides the resources and expertise needed to further develop what we’ve established at Dakota Bodies. We’re thrilled about the partnership and the vast opportunities it offers.”

Leadership and Growth

Dakota Bodies will operate alongside CM Truck Beds under Courreges’ leadership, as ATW continues to enhance its prominence in the truck equipment market. The company is gaining attention for its engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

Strategic Growth Plans

Courreges emphasized that “ATW Truck Equipment is a critical aspect of growth within the broader ATW success narrative.” He concluded, “Welcoming a market leader like Dakota Bodies will expedite ATW’s establishment as a key player in the truck equipment sector, thereby better serving our clients with a comprehensive truck equipment portfolio.”

Transaction Details

The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
