Honoring a Remarkable Journey: Chris Clardy
We are excited to share an inspiring story about Chris Clardy, a C1 Truck Driver Training graduate who transformed his childhood dream into a successful trucking enterprise.
A Dream Takes Flight
Clardy’s passion for trucking began at a young age. At just 12, during a visit to the Mt. Comfort Air Show, he was mesmerized not by the aircraft but by a semi-truck on display. This experience introduced him to C1 Truck Driver Training, instilling a dream that would accompany him through various life challenges.
Support in Difficult Times
Shortly afterward, Clardy encountered significant health issues that required hospitalization. In a heartfelt gesture, C1’s owner, Chris Welch, sent him a personal note along with a promise of a semi-truck ride at the school once he was recovered.
A Defining Moment
This act of kindness turned out to be a pivotal moment in Clardy’s life.
Turning Dreams into Reality
Nearly twenty years later, Clardy returned to C1, this time as a student. Already equipped with his CDL permit and DOT physical, he approached his training with determination. Graduating at the top of his class and passing his CDL test on the first attempt, he launched his career with PAM Transport.
Building a Future
However, Clardy’s journey didn’t end there.
Now, he owns and manages his own fleet, generating job opportunities for others aiming to follow a similar path. His story exemplifies the impact of mentorship and quality training combined with personal ambition.
A Broader Message
Clardy’s experience serves as a powerful reminder that truck driver training extends beyond learning to drive — it is about unleashing potential. For many students nationwide, the road to independence, stability, and success begins at a CVTA (Commercial Vehicle Training Association) member school.
