A FIFO worker, known as the “world’s hottest truck driver,” has disclosed her remarkable six-figure income, which she claims enables her to live her “best life.” Based in Perth, Ashlea recently showcased her hectic lifestyle on social media, revealing her job in the remote mines of Western Australia.
As a dump truck operator, she works in a 14-day on, 14-day off rotation in the Pilbara region, starting her shifts at 4 am and enduring long 12-hour days in extreme heat. However, her dedication has resulted in an annual salary of $120,000, despite only working about six months a year, and she describes her life as “awesome.”
In a TikTok video, Ashlea explained how she maintains such a fulfilling lifestyle: “I prioritize doing exciting things.” Her time off allows her to enjoy events, travel, and indulge in dining out.
She mentioned several factors contributing to her enviable lifestyle, including being child-free and single, which alleviates financial burdens. Moreover, she has no debt, having sold her investment property, thus resulting in a healthy bank balance.
Ashlea was candid about her earnings from being a FIFO truck driver. Starting at a trainee pay of $36.50 per hour, her wage increased to $43.50 after three months, with potential earnings reaching approximately $95,000 to $96,000 in her first year. Transitioning contractors boosted her hourly rate to $51.50, leading to an annual income, including bonuses, of about $122,000.
Recently, a TikTok video showcased her as the “world’s hottest truck driver,” which she found amusing. Ashlea, who had no prior mining experience before this role, persevered through various entry-level jobs to land a position in the industry, emphasizing that persistence is key to success.
While acknowledging the challenges of working in harsh conditions, such as long hours and isolation, Ashlea finds the reward in her two-week vacations each month. Switching from a traditional 8-5 job to FIFO has provided her with a more lucrative income and the ability to save for future investments.
