Meet Bari Musawwir: Monster Truck Driver
Discovered by Monster Jam producers in North Carolina back in 2006, Bari Musawwir, a monster truck driver raised in Cleveland Heights, reflects on how these massive vehicles differ from the radio-controlled trucks he raced in his youth.
After completing four years of training, Musawwir secured a place on the Monster Jam tour in 2010 and has been thriving ever since. He is currently ranked among the top competitors in this year’s circuit.
We had the chance to chat with him backstage at the Q, where the renowned Monster Jam rally kicks off today.
The Thrill of Monster Jam
For this event, the arena is transformed into a racetrack, featuring copious amounts of dirt and a variety of jumps and obstacles. Monster Jam trucks are approximately 12 feet tall and wide, equipped with 66-inch tires that enable them to conquer nearly any terrain. These trucks can even soar distances of 125 to 130 feet.
Competition is set to begin today at 1 PM and 7 PM, with additional events scheduled for tomorrow at 1 PM and 6:30 PM at the Q. Be sure to bring earplugs!
