MAN Truck and Bus Delivers First Long-Distance Electric Trucks
German commercial vehicle maker MAN Truck and Bus, a part of the Traton Group, has handed over its initial batch of 10 long-distance electric trucks.
According to a press release from January 29, global logistics firm DB Schenker has acquired the MAN eTGX semitrailer tractors, optimized for high-volume transportation. These electric trucks are tailored for mega trailers and feature an interior height of three meters, making them suitable for various industries, including automotive, where significant loading capacity is crucial. The design focuses on improving transport efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.
As outlined in a letter of intent from 2023, DB Schenker and MAN Truck and Bus have pledged to incorporate 100 electric trucks into their fleet by 2026. Furthermore, the two companies recently formalized a new letter of intent for the supply of 50 MAN eTGLs, a 12-tonne electric truck specifically designed for urban freight operations. Orders for the eTGL are expected to open in April 2025, broadening DB Schenker’s range of electric vehicles for distribution logistics.
The introduction of the eTGX and eTGL models reflects both companies’ commitment to sustainable transport solutions, seeking to significantly enhance logistical efficiency.
DB Schenker’s investment in these electric vehicles supports its broader strategy to transition to greener transport options, which is an essential goal for the logistics industry as environmental concerns grow.
MAN Truck and Bus is positioning itself as a key player in the electric commercial vehicle market, responding to increasing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.
