NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Returns

After a nearly month-long hiatus, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is back on track this Friday (July 25) at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the TSport 200.

Entry List Highlights

The 35-truck lineup includes some unexpected entries, such as Jordan Anderson making his return with a second Young’s Motorsports entry after a break since 2022. Additionally, Greg Van Alst will debut as a Truck Series team owner, while Boston Oliver steps in for Mike Harmon Racing’s newly revived Truck Series program.

Spire Motorsports’ Consistency

One of the expected entries is Spire Motorsports, which will bring its regular four-truck lineup to the race as it typically does. Drivers Rajah Caruth and rookie Andres Perez will pilot the Nos. 71 and 77 trucks, respectively, while two all-star trucks, Nos. 07 and 7, will feature one fresh and one familiar driver this week.

Driver Updates

Brenden Queen, the ARCA Menards Series point leader, will drive the No. 07 truck for his first Truck Series appearance of 2025, while Corey Day will take the wheel of the No. 7, marking his seventh start for the season after previously racing at Nashville Superspeedway in May.

Rumors of Equipment Sales

There are whispers that Spire Motorsports may be offloading several Truck Series assets, including those acquired from its purchase of Kyle Busch Motorsports after the 2023 season. ARCA Menards Series driver Colby Evans fueled this speculation by sharing a link regarding the rumored sale on a popular racing equipment site. If true, it could lead to the team dropping the No. 77 ride previously held by Perez, who ranks 17th in the points and is third in the 2025 Rookie of the Year standings.

Future Plans for Spire

Some speculate that these developments might be a precursor for Spire to transition to full-time Xfinity Series racing in 2026. This shift could allow the team to reallocate resources and possibly acquire assets from the recently dissolved Our Motorsports. The notion of selling off Truck Series equipment to fund an Xfinity operation may not be far-fetched.

Conclusion

In summary, it’s essential for Spire to remain prudent in navigating its future, especially regarding its roster and equipment. Merging all-star trucks while giving Perez a complete season seems a smarter route. The move to downsize or perhaps shift focus to Xfinity should consider which drivers are truly ready for advancement.
