ICE Arrests Brother of Alleged Killer in Florida Crash

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended Harneet Singh, the brother of Harjinder Singh, who is accused of causing a deadly crash on Florida’s Turnpike that resulted in three fatalities. The incident reportedly occurred when Harjinder made an unauthorized U-turn using a median intended for emergency vehicles.

ICE confirmed that 25-year-old Harneet, who was a passenger in the truck at the time of the accident, is also in the U.S. illegally and was initially detained last Monday. Following the incident, Harjinder fled to California, prompting Lt. Gov. Jay Collins to oversee his extradition.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized the California DMV for issuing a Commercial Driver’s License to Harjinder, calling it “asinine” and questioning the safety governance in the state. “Three innocent people were killed in Florida because of this,” she stated.

McLaughlin further questioned California’s responsibility in the situation, asking, “How many more innocent people must die before Gavin Newsom takes public safety seriously?” She expressed condolences for the victims’ families and emphasized ongoing efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens.

In response, Newsom’s office denied any wrongdoing, claiming that it was Florida that allowed a murder suspect to escape. They argued that California law enforcement had to intervene to arrest Harjinder and criticized the Florida administration for seeking photo opportunities during the extradition.

Harjinder, who was denied a work permit by the Trump administration, now faces three counts of vehicular homicide. Concerns were also raised regarding his English proficiency after reports indicated he struggled with 12 verbal questions during his driver’s test.
