A courageous truck driver cited a Bible passage during a recent interview after he heroically intervened to assist victims of a devastating traffic collision.
Brave Truck Driver
On November 16, Rodney Jones Sr. was driving his truck when he witnessed a severe accident on the interstate connecting I-75 and I-275. Rather than waiting for emergency responders, the dedicated driver sprang into action to aid the victims. He began to manage traffic flow and ensured the safety of everyone present.
“I approached the first truck, and the driver seemed a bit dazed. I asked if he was okay, and he responded, ‘Yes,’” he recounted in an interview. “When I reached the second truck, it was severely damaged. The driver was inside, shouting, ‘Help! Help! Help!’”
Biblical Inspiration
Rodney attempted to assist the trapped driver of the wrecked truck, but was unable to do so. After rescue teams arrived to help the man, Rodney shifted to manage traffic in a safer direction. He parked his truck to block the road and safeguard those involved in the incident.
When asked about the courage that motivated him to help, he referenced Matthew 7:12.
“I didn’t consider the risks or anything happening around me. Someone needed help,” Rodney explained. “The Bible teaches us to do unto others as we would want them to do to us.”
With over three decades of experience as a truck driver, Rodney expressed gratitude for never having faced such an accident himself.
“I’ve been driving trucks for more than 30 years, and I feel fortunate to have avoided any serious incidents. But I would hope that if I were ever in trouble, someone would stop to lend a hand,” he stated.
