Weather Causes Cancellation of USAC Eastern Storm Event

Mother Nature continues to disrupt plans as the USAC Eastern Storm and 358 Modified Doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, has been canceled due to poor weather conditions. The track faced extreme wetness and an overcast sky with 93% cloud coverage, accompanied by light mist and no sunshine, preventing the track crew from starting any preparations.

There are also concerns regarding the wet grounds in the grandstand areas, making it difficult for spectators. The Eastern Storm series has already seen six consecutive nights of racing, leaving no room for rescheduling. This cancellation is particularly disappointing for Thunder on the Hill and Grandview Speedway, who have hosted USAC events in Pennsylvania since their return in 2007.

Looking ahead, the Levan Machine and Truck Equipment Eastern Storm is set to continue with stops at Bridgeport on Wednesday, Big Diamond on Thursday, Williams Grove on Friday, Port Royal on Saturday, and Action Track USA on Sunday. We hope for improved weather conditions for this series.

Upcoming Thunder on the Hill Event

The next NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, featuring the Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week along with the 358 Modifieds in a doubleheader. Gates will open at 5 PM with the races commencing at 7:30 PM.

Alpine Building Supplies will play a role in this event, hosting a tailgate party before the races kick off. Advance ticket sales are available for the July 1 event; interested individuals can call 443-513-4456 and leave their name along with the number of tickets needed. Tickets can be paid for and picked up at the Will Call Window starting at 4:15 PM, and the general admission tickets will be available from 5 PM onwards.

Ticket Pricing and Special Offers

Tickets are priced at $30 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 11, and free for children under 5. The pit fee is $45, with no license required. Special Alpine Thunder on the Hill Series shirts showcasing a 410 Sprint, a Non-Wing 410 Sprint, and a 358 Modified will be sold at the event, with profits benefiting the Big Impact Group of Schuylkill County.

Join us on Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 PM for the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speed Week Series, featuring “The Hodnett Cup.” This event will include a 35-lap race with a $10,000 payout, along with a 30-lap race for the 358 Modifieds, offering a $3,000 prize. Additionally, Alpine Building Supply is offering a $2,000 bonus for first-time Modified Thunder winners, with specifications adhering to the regular Grandview Speedway rules.
