CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Daimler Truck Financial Services USA (DTFS), part of Daimler Truck North America, will set up its U.S. headquarters in Charlotte, creating 276 jobs in Mecklenburg County, as announced by Gov. Josh Stein on Tuesday.
Investment and Facility Details
The company will invest over $7.8 million into a new facility that will bring together operations from Michigan and Texas into a 60,000-square-foot location in the Ballantyne area. This site will handle administrative, human resources, and financial functions.

DTFS offers financial, leasing, and insurance services for Daimler Truck North America, a prominent manufacturer of commercial vehicles, including brands like Freightliner, Western Star, and Thomas Built Buses. The company has been catering to commercial vehicle clients such as owner-operators, fleet owners, and municipalities for more than five decades.

Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of DTFS, expressed enthusiasm about the new headquarters, saying, “This move is a significant step toward aligning our team more closely with DTNA and enhancing our long-term service growth strategy.”
Economic Impact and Incentives
The anticipated average salary for the new roles is $133,940, well above Mecklenburg County’s average of $86,830, which could result in a total annual payroll exceeding $36.9 million. This project is backed by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), estimated to contribute $1.08 billion to the state economy over its 12-year term.
Community Benefits
With Mecklenburg County classified as a Tier 3 region, $1.39 million from the JDIG will be directed to the Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account, supporting infrastructure development in rural areas. Officials noted that the investment will transform the local economy and job market, benefitting both the county and the state.
