Merritt Acquires Magnum Trailer & Equipment to Enhance Aluminium Truck Accessories
Merritt, a prominent US manufacturer of livestock and gooseneck trailers with a legacy nearing 75 years, has announced a strategic initiative to reinforce its presence and broaden its capabilities in aluminium truck accessories. The acquisition of Magnum Trailer & Equipment, a well-known company based in British Columbia, has been finalized by the Merritt family of companies, which includes Merritt Aluminum Products and Merritt Trailers.
This acquisition brings the total workforce to over 520 employees across North America, spanning five operational locations and encompassing more than 400,000 square feet dedicated to production and service centers. The strategic partnership is expected to provide customers in the heavy-duty trucking sector with a comprehensive aluminium solution.
According to Andrew Taylor, CEO of Magnum Trailer & Equipment, “The joining of forces with Merritt marks an exciting milestone for us. Our shared values and complementary product lines will help us grow strategically together.”
The Truck Accessories division of Magnum, famous for its robust aluminium moose guards and modular front-end protection systems for Class 8 trucks, will be seamlessly integrated with Merritt Aluminum Products.
“This acquisition holds both strategic and personal significance. Our family has roots in the Pacific Northwest where we were established almost 75 years ago. Having served the PNW and Western Canada, welcoming Magnum Trailer & Equipment from beautiful British Columbia feels like a homecoming,” stated Taylor Merritt.
This acquisition is set to yield numerous benefits for Merritt, such as:
- Expanded product offerings including tough front-end protection and smart storage solutions for heavy-duty and light-duty truck customers.
- Improved product availability and expedited service due to an expanded operational reach.
- Accelerated innovative product development and shorter time-to-market through integrated engineering teams.
- New opportunities for technology sharing, streamlined supply chains, and cutting-edge design innovations across various business divisions.
“This acquisition underlines our strategic objective of providing top-quality aluminium products. By merging the strengths of both companies, we aim to create additional value for our customers, foster innovation, and uphold the shared values that contribute to our success,” concluded Taylor Merritt, CEO of Merritt Companies.
