Brent Marks and Rico Abreu Set to Compete at Grandview Speedway

On Tuesday, May 20, previous champions Brent Marks and Rico Abreu will return to Grandview Speedway to vie for the $20,000 top prize in the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Rich Mar Florist Kubota High Limit 410 sprint event. This race, part of the Roto-Rooter MIDWEEK Series, features a 35-lap showdown, with Pennsylvania drivers eligible for an additional $2,000 bonus from Alpine Building Supply. Last year, Marks claimed the local driver bonus during his first Thunder on the Hill victory at the Bechtelsville, PA speedway after nineteen attempts.

Race Details and Schedule

The event will kick off with Time Trials leading into a series of qualifying heats, culminating in the Rich Mar Florist Kubota High Limit feature. Besides the enticing $20,000 first-place award, each driver starting in the 24-car field will earn at least $1,500. Additionally, the program will include two 12-lap races featuring Alpine Building Supply Vintage Cars, making the high-banked, one-third mile oval a thrilling venue for fans.

Ticket Information

Advance tickets can be purchased at TicketHoss.com, allowing early entry at 4:30 PM for preferred seating. General admission tickets will be available starting at 5:00 PM, with gates opening at that time. Warm-ups and time trials will commence at 7:00 PM, followed by the event’s opening ceremonies, featuring local trumpet player Eric Haney performing the National Anthem. In case of rain, the event will take place on May 21 at 7:30 PM.

Admission Prices

On race night, adult general admission is set at $40, with children aged 6-11 paying $20 and those 5 and under granted free access. The Pit Fee is $45, with no license requirement (Pit tickets are not available through Ticket Hoss).

Alpine Building Supply Merchandise

Special edition Alpine Thunder on the Hill Racing Series shirts will be sold, showcasing various sprint car styles and benefiting the Big Impact Group of Schuylkill County, a 35-year-old mentoring program for local youth. Shirts will be priced at $20 for standard sizes and $25 for larger sizes, and profits will support this worthy cause.

Competitors on the Track

Participants include notable drivers such as five-time World of Outlaw Champion Brad Sweet, along with Tanner Thorson, Kasey Kahne, Tyler Courtney, and many others. Local competitors like Danny Dietrich and Freddie Rahmer will also aim for the $22,000 payday.

Upcoming Events in the Series

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder Series will feature more thrilling events, including the USAC Non-Wing Sprints Levan Machine & Truck Equipment Eastern Storm on June 17, and a grand finale on July 1 with the Pennsylvania 410 Sprints Speed Week Series. Each event promises significant payouts and exciting competition.
