Jason Aldean teamed up with Amazon Music on the evening of September 9 to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. He surprised Amazon’s line-haul partners and truckers at the Amazon Truck Stop in downtown Nashville with a lively six-song performance, which featured the live debut of his new single, “We Back.”

Exciting Setup for a Special Event

A small stage was set up in a parking lot across from Nissan Stadium, designed to resemble a truck stop. Nearly 200 attendees enjoyed unlimited food, drinks, and games before Aldean’s unexpected performance. Prior to hitting the stage, he sat down with Billboard to discuss his collaboration with Amazon and the details of his upcoming album, 9, alongside his latest single, “We Back.”

Aldean’s Appreciation for Truckers

“I’ve always respected the trucking industry,” Aldean remarked, donning his signature cowboy hat and jeans, seated in a trailer on-site. “My grandfather was a truck driver, and my first album even included a song called ‘Asphalt Cowboy’ about that profession, which often goes unappreciated. We have many hard-working truck drivers on our tour, so partnering with Amazon for this event felt fitting.”

New Album and Single Announcement

Aldean’s performance came shortly after he revealed that his ninth studio album, 9, will be released on November 22. During his set, he showcased the anthem-like lead single “We Back,” while expressing gratitude towards truckers, saying, “Thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you and hope you hear ‘We Back’ often from now until Christmas.”

The Sound of “We Back”

Reflecting on his new single, Aldean described it as reminiscent of previous hits like “Hicktown” and “She’s Country.” It combines his signature country-rock sound with powerful guitar riffs and an upbeat rhythm. “While many artists blend rock with country, I believe our approach remains distinct,” he explained.

Collaboration with Tyler Hubbard

While recording 9, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard reached out to Aldean, inquiring if he needed any specific songs. Aldean expressed his desire for high-energy anthems suitable for live performances, stating, “We Back” fits that mold perfectly. Collaborating over the years, they’ve crafted multiple chart-topping hits together.

Availability of “We Back”

“We Back” is now featured on Amazon Music’s global Country Heat playlist. Aldean expressed excitement for the upcoming project, highlighting the energy and tempo that he aims to deliver in his new songs.
