Quick question — which professions are currently offering the highest pay increases? Web developers? Network engineers?

Absolutely, but also consider positions like cashiers, delivery drivers, and bank tellers.

According to Glassdoor’s list of jobs with the most significant wage growth over the past year, there’s a mix of high-skill roles as well as lower-skill, lower-wage jobs where demand is robust. Some of these positions have experienced stagnant pay for an extended period, making them overdue for increases, notes Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist at the job-posting platform.

“The strong labor market today may be beginning to boost wages across various income levels,” says Chamberlain.

Top Jobs with the Largest Pay Hikes

Here are the ten jobs that saw the most significant annual pay growth in April:

Financial Advisor

Median base pay: $55,296

Annual increase: 6.4%

With around 10,000 Baby Boomers retiring daily, there is an escalating demand for financial advisors.

Bank Teller

Median base pay: $30,066

Annual increase: 5.5%

Despite branch closures and layoffs due to the shift toward online banking and ATMs, tellers that remain are warranted for salary increases.

Attorney

Median base pay: $101,817

Annual increase: 4.7%

A robust economy generally benefits attorneys as they are vital in numerous business dealings.

Truck Driver

Median base pay: $53,878

Annual increase: 4.5%

A critical shortage of truck drivers nationwide has driven up wages and prompted trucking companies to provide signing bonuses. Job site Indeed lists truck driving as having the highest number of job openings.

Delivery Driver

Median base pay: $38,955

Annual increase: 4.5%

Amazon’s rapid expansion has increased the demand for delivery drivers, who rank ninth on Indeed’s list of jobs with the most openings.

Web Developer

Median base pay: $65,414

Annual increase: 3.9%

The rise of web-based applications and services has heightened the need for skilled web developers.

Network Engineer

Median base pay: $71,433

Annual increase: 3.6%

The growth of cloud computing and data storage technologies has amplified the demand for network engineers.

Cashier

Median base pay: $27,923

Annual increase: 3.4%

Although self-checkouts and the rise of online shopping have curtailed cashier hiring, an increasing population and new store openings still create a need for cashiers.

Web Designer

Median base pay: $51,875

Annual increase: 3.4%

As websites represent the public faces of businesses, the need for capable web designers remains strong.

Security Officer

Median base pay: $35,321

Annual increase: 3.3%

The continuous operation of many businesses necessitates round-the-clock security services.
