Plans for a Truckers Convoy to Ottawa
A western separatist and member of the far-right Yellow Vests Canada group has ambitious plans for a truckers convoy departing from British Columbia on Sunday, with its destination set for Ottawa.
Response to Vaccine Mandates
On January 20, Pat King spoke with evangelical Christian talk-show host Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson, revealing that the convoy intends to disrupt Ottawa as a protest against vaccine mandates.
Critique of COVID-19 Measures
King expressed that the government’s actions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 are a deliberate “intentional squeeze” on the Canadian economy.
Targeting the Senate
“We’re not taking this battle to the MPs, to the politicians, that are supposed to represent us,” he stated. “We’re taking this to the Senate, to those who have the power to implement the changes we seek in this country,” King explained.
Commitment to the Cause
He emphasized, “We’re not just passing through; we’re here to stay. If Ottawa wants to continue its extreme measures, let them face the consequences. If you’re looking to work, good luck. You’ll have to walk,” he declared.
Encouragement to Join the Convoy
Tyler Thompson, a former candidate for the People’s Party of Canada, expressed her readiness to participate and encouraged others to join her. “You don’t have to be a trucker, right Pat?” she asked, to which King agreed.
Vaccine Passports as a Coup
During the discussion, she labeled vaccine passports as a “coup d’Ă©tat against God,” stating that if people desire a “come-to-Jesus moment,” they must possess a vaccine pass. She criticized the situation by likening it to Jesus overturning tables in protest against what she perceives as a betrayal to the citizens of Canada, suggesting that churches may have been bribed in the process.
