Daimler Truck Financial Services USA (DTFS) has collaborated with GEICO to launch Connected Insurance, aimed at Freightliner and Western Star owner-operators and small fleets. Managed by Daimler Truck Insurance Agency LLC, this initiative utilizes connected vehicle data to improve coverage precision and incentivize safe driving practices.
Program Overview and Coverage
Connected Insurance enhances GEICO’s DriveEasy Pro platform by integrating real-time truck telematics from Detroit Connect. Customers with Freightliner and Western Star vehicles can voluntarily provide their vehicle data without needing extra hardware. This sharing of data facilitates accurate risk assessments, streamlined claims management, and the possibility of saving up to 10% on insurance premiums.
GEICO’s commercial trucking insurance includes tailored options for Freightliner and Western Star models. As stated in a press release, the initiative was developed with input from industry experts, leveraging advanced analytics and telematics to simplify claims processes and enhance rate transparency.
DTFS intends to broaden the application of connected vehicle data in future financial services, underscoring its commitment to efficiency and customer-centric innovation.
Addressing Industry Costs
According to the American Transportation Research Institute, insurance ranks as the fourth-highest operational cost for carriers. Connected Insurance aims to make coverage more affordable for independent drivers and small fleets by merging telematics insights with GEICO’s underwriting expertise.
Partnership Goals
Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services North America, stated, “Our focus at Daimler Truck Financial Services is to provide comprehensive and innovative financial solutions tailored to the unique needs of our clients.” He emphasized that this partnership with GEICO introduces a smart, data-driven insurance solution that helps clients manage a significant operational expense.
