Family Seeks Closure After Hit-and-Run Death of Truck Driver

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The relatives of a truck driver who lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Interstate 75 are urging the driver responsible to come forward for closure.

Terrell Lowdermilk’s family, residing in Tennessee, shared with Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell that he was heading home when he was fatally struck.

Lowdermilk had been involved in a minor collision with another truck on the northbound side of I-75. After both drivers exited their vehicles, he was hit by a passing car.

“He was a genuinely sweet and humble person,” remarked Thois Bentley, the victim’s aunt.

According to police reports, the hit-and-run occurred shortly after 2:30 AM on Wednesday at I-75 Northbound near South Marietta Parkway.

A care package that Lowdermilk’s grandmother had prepared for his return remains untouched in her home. “She always made him one because he was coming home,” Bentley noted.

The family expressed their anguish, stating that the suspect needs to do the right thing by contacting the police. “You took the life of a wonderful person,” Harris emphasized. They have also started a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs.
